Boutique-hotel "Rodina"

YEAR

2007

LOCATION

Sochi

The sanatorium was built on the Black Sea coast in the 1950s on Stalin's order, and during its not so long history it managed to survive all the trends of the time - from popularity to neglect. In 2005 it was decided to reconstruct, and in 2006 the first building was opened for guests.
What is really admirable in the transformation of the Soviet sanatorium is how gracefully it managed to preserve the best of the old and accommodate so much new, modern and perfectly corresponding to the new status of a boutique hotel: behind the Soviet-built colonnade there are modern laconic interiors, with a perfect balance between restraint and dignity of luxury and the play of colours. There is nothing to pick on.
"The design solution of the boutique hotel Grand Hotel & SPA "Rodina" is absolutely unique. Architectural concepts of interiors created by architect Matteo Thun are hidden behind the facade with colonnade and porticoes in neoclassical style. Suzanne Loggere and Patrick Brugman, court decorators to Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, were invited by Domus Aurea Design Interiors Group to decorate the project.
They have created an atmosphere of luxury, comfort and refined taste in the hotel. Every detail of the decor is an author's work, preserving the special atmosphere of the Black Sea coast of the 50s and giving the hotel a club character. Reconstructing the Rodina, Domus Aurea Design Interiors Group relied on an elegant neoclassical interior that emphasises the unique architecture. This is what the famous Paco Raban, who was invited to the grand opening of the hotel, emphasised in the interior design." © http://dotel.ru/
